Notes about using the JSR Intervalometer DIY Kit

I've noticed the voltage regulator getting too hot to touch when the JSR DIY Kit is running for an extended time from 12V. I did a current measurement test and here's what I found (current is in milliamps):

With the screen brightness on full bright, the voltage regulator is dissipating 1.26 watts ([12-5]*0.18).
To keep the voltage regulator from overheating, do not have the screen on brighter than you need, and allow airflow to circulate around the voltage regulator. It also helps to solder the voltage regulator directly to the PCB to aid in heat transfer.

Also worthy of mention, is there is a small power savings when the motors are turned off (even if you have no motors connected). Turning off the motors eliminates the residual power that the motor driver uses.

To turn of the motors, Click on "Motor1" on the main page, then "Ramping", and press "Mode" until it shows OFF. Click "OK" to return to the main screen. If the motor has been turned off successfully, it should say "off" beside Motor1. Repeat for Motor2.

Finally, the Audio amp (LM386) uses about 4ma of current. This can be eliminated by removing the 386 from its socket when you are not using the sound trigger.
